July Update

  This month started off with the Tauranga Brass Band coming to our centre to perform. It was lovely to listen to the tubas, trumpet, trombones and drums play together. A couple of the clients had the opportunity to conduct the band which was cool. Some of the songs they played were “Ben”, “I will follow him” and the “Goodnight KIwi”. We had photos with the musicians afterwards. In Abilities unleashed we enjoy the Te Puke team joining in with us. We played the human board game where I threw a dice, then needed to complete different actions. I had to turn around in circles, and throw a ball into the hoop. It was so much fun. I enjoyed watching Jump Jam, looking at the dance moves to my favourite songs. Massage time is always enjoyable. I have had hand and feet massages and completed some gentle stretches. In sensory I made stress balls and played in cloud foam. That tickled. I have been out and about visiting the Historic Village to have a Matariki scavenger hunt and to see the fair...

June Update

  This has been a very busy and exciting month. I have been out and about travelling to Farmers at Tauriko, visiting the Rose Gardens, the Waikareo Walkway and a look around the Toi O Homai campus.  We had an amazing Masquerade ball. It was a very special day with the girls wearing their pretty ball gowns and the men in suits and ties. We all wore a mask. Some were made and others were brought. They all looked amazing. We had a DJ called Mark who came dressed in the theme and a mystery quest arrived and we had to guess who it was. Surprise! It was Cassie who was an ex-staff member. We had a mocktail which was coloured blue. On my I Gaze computer I have been looking up Taylor Swift, Nursery Rhymes and animals on the farm.  My music sessions are always fun. We explored music from the nineties, reggae and we all shared our favourite songs.  I enjoyed dressing a teddy bear, choosing pretty fabrics and playing with paper dolls, attaching their different clothes. May Updates

This month I had a lovely outing visiting the Decor Garden Centre. It was a lovely day with the sun shining and the leaves rustling in the gentle breeze. I met a really cute bird among the beautiful plants and flowers.I visited Farmers at the Crossing to try out and test some new fragrances. My favourite fragrance was one created by Dior. It was called Addict. I helped out in the community by going to Merrivale Community Gardens where I watered the gardens. It’s lovely to be out in the sunshine in these Autumn months. In music I have enjoyed music from around the world. Scottish music was fun. I found the bagpipes to be very interesting and they had an unusual unique sound. I also explored American music and of course my favourites were Taylor Swift and Shawn Mendes. We visited Italy next with a lot of romantic music like “Amore” which is a lovely ballad. A very special guest

  Today we had a very special guest come to talk with us. Devon Briggs, the para-cyclist who is a world champion at cycling in the velodrome. He brought in his medals and bicycle and talked about his racing. EB
